Megaupload

On 20th January in New Zealand the police arrested  Kim Dotcom, boss of Megaupload, on his mansion where he lived with his family. Kim Dotcom, born  on January 21, 1974 is a German businessman. He is also known as the founder of Megaupload. He has lived in Hong Kong, where the Megaupload company is registered. The authorities accuse Dotcom and his business of doing distribution of copyrighted works and caused more than £320m of losses to film, music and games companies. The FBI estimates that Kim Dotcom won approximately $ 115,000 every day because of Megaupload. Also the site didn’t have as many registered users as they say. The defendants  denied the charges and said that they only  reproduced materials from other websites, including YouTube, and made them available on Megaupload  helping  people to communicate and share. The police confiscated luxury cars, jets, and other luxury objects. The defense of the founder of Megaupload asked the High Court of New Zealand the return of property seized from his client, required by the United States for an alleged offense of hacking. The Judge will write a decision about the case. Kim Dotcom's lawyer asked that the cars and money confiscated from Dotcom in January to be returned.
